Alan Grieco raced the match sprint at the 1964 Olympics, but he started out as a road racer. Grieco won the 1961-62 Amateur Bicycle League of America (ABLA) title in the junior road race. Grieco was from New Jersey where he had attended Hackensack High School and raced for the Century Road Club. His daughter, Jessica Grieco, later became a top racer in the 1990s, although she never made the Olympic team. Jessica Grieco won the Tour of Somerville in 1995-96.
