Anton Hansen grew up as a foster son of the family of a worker at a timber yard. In 1912, he came third in the 100-kilometre individual time trial at the inaugural national championships. He then competed in the road time trial at the Olympic Games in Stockholm and finished 65th individually. Norway was not counted for the team event, as only three of the required four members finished the race. Hansen died only three years after the Olympics.
