During the late 1920s Vladas Jankauskas became a Lithuanian national cycling champion, earning him a place on the Olympic team. At the 1928 Amsterdam Games, Jankauskas competed in the individual road race, but collapsed and suffered an injury after covering 50 kilometres of the course. He later moved to the United States and lived in the New York area.
