Biography

Soviet cyclist Mikhail Kolyushev competed on both the road and track, achieving his best results on the latter. Kolyushev won gold in the team pursuit at the 1965 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in San Sebastián along with compatriots Stanislav Moskvin, Sergey Tereshchenkov, and Leonid Vukolov. The following year he was part of the Soviet team that won bronze in Frankfurt before winning his second team pursuit gold in 1967 in Amsterdam with Moskvin, Viktor Bykov, and Dzintars Lācis. In 1968 Kolyushev was part of the Soviet team that narrowly missed out on a medal at the Mexico City Olympics when they lost the bronze medal race to the Italian team. He was also a six-time national champion and a former world record holder in the 1 km track time trial.
