From 1958 to 1969 Stanislav Moskvin dominated track cycling in the Soviet Union, becoming an 18-time national champion. In 1960 Moskvin made his first of three appearances at the Olympics, winning bronze in the team pursuit with Viktor Romanov, Leonid Kolumbet, and Arnold Belgardt in Roma. After finishing fifth in the same event four years later in Tokyo, he returned to the Olympics one more time for the Mexico City Games. The Soviet Union just missed out on a medal after losing to Denmark in the semi-finals before finishing fourth to Italy in the ride-off for bronze.
Throughout the decade Moskvin was a mainstay in the Soviet team pursuit quartet at the World Championships, where he won four gold (1963, 1965, 1967, 1969) and three bronze medals (1962, 1964, 1970). He also rode in the individual pursuit at the championships, winning silver in both 1963 and 1965. After his retirement Moskvin coached the national teams of the Soviet Union (1971–73), Algeria (1974–80), and Colombia (1995–99).
