Biography

Herb MacDonald was a Canadian cyclist who was active in the interwar period. In 1920 MacDonald was selected to represent Canada on both the road and track at the Antwerpen Olympics. In the road race, which was contested as a time trial, he finished 31st, more than 50 minutes behind the winning time. In the velodrome he rode in both the sprint and the 4,000 metres team pursuit, but was eliminated in the opening heats in both events. MacDonald had better success in the 50 kilometres race where he finished fifth in a group of riders who were less than a bike length behind the winner.
