Brian McDonough was a track cyclist who competed in the points race at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. His brother, Pat McDonough, was an Olympic track cyclist who won a silver medal in team pursuit at the 1984 Olympics. Brian McDonough raced on the roads in addition to the track. In 1995 he won the Vista Grand Prix in Columbia, South Carolina; the Concord Criterium in New Hampshire; and a stage at the Wichita Falls Race.
Brian McDonough married Sue Yeaton, a former national caliber bike racer. They settled in the southern seacoast of Maine, where McDonough ran Maine Street Plumbing Services.
