Paul Medhurst had dual British/New Zealand nationality and represented New Zealand at the 1974 Commonwealth Games. After the 1976 Olympics Medhurst began riding six-days as a pro, winning six-days in Melbourne and Launceston in 1981. He was also runner-up in the British Road Championship in 1977.
