Biography

José Pacheco was a Portuguese road cyclist who was active during the early 1960s. In 1960 Pacheco was selected to compete at the Roma Olympics, where he finished 25th in the 100 kilometres team time trial. The following year he started the Vuelta a España, but was forced to abandon the race on the third stage. He had better success at his home race, the Volta a Portugal, winning five stages later the same year. Pacheco had his best results in 1962 when he won the overall classification of the Volta, including winning seven stages, in addition to becoming the Portuguese national road race champion.
