Biography

In the 1960s Jiří Pecka enjoyed multiple victories in track cycling and represented Czechoslovakia at the Olympics. In 1964 Pecka won the national team pursuit championship and the first of three 1,000 metres time trial titles. His performances earned him a place on the Olympic team at the Tokyo Olympics where he finished fifth in both the 1,000 metres time trial and the 4,000 metres team pursuit. After the Olympics he defended his national time trial title with back-to-back victories in 1965 and 1966. He was also a six-day champion in Brno in 1968, and set three national records during his career. Pecka then studied coaching in Praha before working as in that field in Brno.
