In 1936 Armand Putzeyse won the Belgian road championship for amateurs before competing at the Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the team road race. Near the end of World War II, Putzeyse had a brief career as a professional, placing fourth in the 1943 Flèche Wallonne and 10th at Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 1945.
