Ove Krogh Rants took up cycling in 1944 and placed second the following year in the sprint at the Danish national championships. He was third in that event in 1947, and then won his first title in 1950, defending it in 1951. This led him to be selected to represent Denmark in that event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals repêchage. After coming in third at the nationals in 1953, he turned professional and won national professional titles in 1955 and 1957, in addition to coming in second in 1958. By career, he was a civil servant in the Frederiksberg Municipality.
