Biography

Glen Robbins was one of several Canadian cyclists who made their own way to the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, including funding the trip himself. Robbins finished 22nd in the individual road race, the best-placed of the three Canadian riders, just over 10 minutes behind the race winner. He was also part of the quartet for the 4,000 metres team pursuit, with Canada just missing out on a medal after finishing fourth. Robbins worked with the Saanich Fire Department on Vancouver Island for 35 years, retiring as the fire chief in 1972. In 2007 he was inducted into the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.
