Austrian cyclist Arnold Ruiner participated in the 1960 Rome Olympics. He finished a respectable 35th place in the individual men’s road race. He was seen as one of the best Austrian road cyclists during the 1950s and 60s. In 1962 Ruiner won the Austrian national road race title, and added three more titles with the 100 km time trial teams in 1960-61 and 1965. He also rode five World Championships and ten Austrian Tours. In 1960, he won the Niederösterreich Rundfahrt.
