In 1965 Miguel Ángel Sánchez finished second in the inaugural edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica cycling race in 1965. During the mid-1960s Sánchez represented the Costa Rican national cycling team and was selected to compete at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. At the Games he competed in the road race and the team time trial, finishing 63rd and 27th, respectively.
