Biography

In the 1960s Belgian cyclist Joseph Schoeters won multiple races as an amateur, including two stages at the Peace Race in 1968. That same year Schoeters was selected to compete in the road race at the Mexico City Olympics, but did not finish the course. The following year he turned professional, representing the Peugeot–BP–Michelin team at the Vuelta a España. Schoeters had his best result in 1970 when he finished fifth in the Amstel Gold Race, and he retired from the sport just a few years later.
