Born in Differdange, Luxembourg in 1916 Nicolas Kremer trained as a locksmith before working in a steel factory. After World War II broke out Kremer was a member of the resistance involved in smuggling. Following the war he joined the Patriotic and Democratic Group political party and was a member of the Luxembourg parliament in 1945 and 1946. Kremer then worked for the Ministry of Transport where he became an advocate for road safety. He then went on to author multiple books detailing his childhood, time in the resistance, and life during the war. Kremer was also a keen cyclist who was selected to ride in the road race at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but did not start the event.
