At the Pan American Games Fernando Vera won silver (1979) as well as bronze (1975) in the 4000 m individual pursuit and was a member of the gold medal winning 4000 m pursuit team (with Richard Tormen, Roberto Muñoz, and the non-Olympian Sergio Aliste) in 1979.
