Biography

In 1982 Belgian cyclist Frank Verleyen became the national junior champion on the track in the Madison. Over the next few years Verleyen won several local amateur races, including the under-23 editions of Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders in 1983. After a stage win at the 1984 edition of the Tour of Belgium he earned himself a place on the Olympic team for the Los Angeles Games, but failed to finish in the road race.
