George Watson was a Canadian cyclist who competed in the road time trial at the 1912 Olympic Games, finishing 78th, more than two hours behind the winner, Rudolph Lewis from South Africa. He must have replaced D. A. McGillicuddy, a Toronto cyclist, who qualified for the Canadian team but was not given leave by his employer.
Watson was married to Eliza Jane “Lizzie” Pender after his return from the Olympic Games in Stockholm. They lived in Toronto, where he worked as a printer. During World War I, he was conscripted several times but was always discharged as medically unfit after a few months. During his short spells in the Army between 1915 and 1918, he served in the infantry and with Canadian Railway Troops.
