Wolfgang, father of Steffen Wesemann, was an East German road cyclist who finished 33rd in the individual road race at the 1972 München Olympics. He participated in the Peace Race from 1971-73 and the Tour of East Germany from 1968-71, which he won in 1971. In 1972, he won the national amateur road race title, and in 1973-74 the road team trial titles.
