Field hockey goalkeeper Fritz Lichtschein was an Austrian team member at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. The team finished ninth and last in the tournament. The team lost all matches in the preliminary round, scoring only one goal, against Denmark.
Lichtschein also played ice hockey in winter, and also played tennis. He became a field hockey referee and sports administrator. As a field hockey goalkeeper, he played with SC Frankfurt 1880 in Germany and Stade Français Paris occasionally. In 1929 and 1930 he won the bronze medal at the Ice Hockey European Championships. He died fairly young as a result of appendicitis in March 1932.
