Léon Binoche won a gold medal in rugby at the 1900 Paris Olympics. A scrum-half, he played for Racing Club de France from 1895-1902, winning French titles with them in 1900 and 1902. Binoche studied law at the Lycée Carnot in Paris and then worked as a lawyer.
Binoche’s son, General François Binoche was a major figure in the French resistance and later became commander of the French sector of occupied Berlin, while his daughter, Antoinette Binoche was also a major figure in the French resistance under the codename “Toni.” His great-niece was the Oscar winning actress Juliette Binoche.
