Joseph Wallis spent most of his rugby career with Old Edwardians, for whom he also played cricket, although Wallis also played cricket for Birmingham and represented the Midland Counties at rugby three times in the 1894-95 season, including a memorable win over Kent at Blackheath. At the time of the 1900 Olympics in Paris, Wallis was a forward and the vice-captain of the Old Edwardians. His wife Elsie was well known as a breeder of show dogs and used to show them all over Britain including the world famous Cruft’s.
