George Smith won a silver medal at the 1908 London Olympics with the Liverpool City Police team, who were representing the Great Britain second team. They won their opening match against the United States, after their opponents withdrew following a complaint about the shoes worn by the Liverpool eight. Smith and his teammates went onto the final, were they lost 2-0 to the London City Police team. Nothing else is known about Smith.
