Biography

Richard Ludwig and his brother, Erich, played on the rugby team of the SC Frankfurt 1880, losing to France in the final (27-17), winning a silver medal at the 1900 Olympics in Paris. He was also a member of the crew of Southern Germany at the very first representative rugby game, “North vs. South” (result: 11-3) on 4 November 1900 at Carls-Aue in Kassel. Richard was also active as a track & field athlete in different disciplines.
