Edgar Davis was a member of the Glen Echo Country Club in St. Louis. He studied law in 1889 and in 1893 became general agent for the German Fire Insurance Company in St. Louis. In 1894 he established Davis & Davis Fire Insurance Agents and in 1900, he bought out his brother and managed the firm on his own, with C. C. Conner and C. W. Davis as junior partners.
Davis later had health issues and moved to the Phoenix area for his health. He died there when he was only 53-years-old after several years of struggling with poor health.
