Frank Newton attended George Washington University and later Johns Hopkins. He worked as a chemist for several firms, but eventually took over as general manager of the Frink Corp., a lighting fixture company. He went on to become president and chairman of the board of Frink, and later served on the board of several of its subsidiaries.
Newton had an excellent golf career and it was one of the longest competitive careers of any of the 1904 Olympians. He moved to California in 1905 and in 1910 won the California Amateur as well as the Pacific Northwest Amateur. In 1915 he moved east, to Massachusetts, where he went on to win the 1923 North & South Amateur, the 1925 Mid-South Amateur, and the 1926 New England Amateur. In addition to golf, Newton was known as an expert tennis player.
