George Oliver was from Alabama and a member of the Birmingham CC in 1904. He played on the third place team in the Olympic team event, but it is difficult to say he helped them much, as he failed to break 100 in either of the two rounds. However there were only three teams, so Oliver is considered a bronze medalist. Oliver’s golf later improved and in 1909 he was the runner-up in the Southern Amateur championship.
