Clement Smoot was from the Exmoor Country Club in Chicago when he played for the Western GA team in the 1904 Olympics. Smoot also competed individually, losing in the first round after qualifying scores of 91-87. He played in the 1905 U.S. Amateur, but lost in the first round. A successful businessman, he founded the Smoot-Holman Electrical Company which specialized in industrial lighting.
