Swede Righter was a football and basketball star at Stanford and also played on the rugby team in 1917. Football was undoubtedly his major sport and he received honorable mention in the 1920 All-America selections. After graduating in 1921 he became football, basketball, and track coach at the College of the Pacific for 12 years. He later served as a coach at several small Northern California colleges and high schools until his retirement in 1962.
