Ed Turkington graduated from Cal/Berkeley and then established his own business as a grain broker. After service in World War II he attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and later held an appointment as Regional Director for the Small Business Administration. From 1944 to 1945 he was the police commissioner for San Francisco and then became the security chief for the LINO Offices in the U.S.
