Moustafa Fahim had a successful boxing career as a middleweight after World War II. He became the Egyptian national champion in 1948 and was selected to represent his country at that year’s London Olympics. There, he defeated Spain’s Jim Oliver in round one before being eliminated by Jan Schubart of the Netherlands in round two. After winning additional national championships in 1950 and 1951, he had his greatest international success at the inaugural Mediterranean Games, when he captured the gold medal in his event. He took part in the Helsinki Olympics the following year, but was eliminated in his first bout by Terry Gooding of Great Britain. Following his retirement from active competition, he worked as an administrator, including heading the boxing delegation to the 1959 Mediterranean Games, and also served as General Secretary of the Egyptian Boxing Federation.
