Henning Holst’s career as an active player spanned almost two decades. After winning the silver medal at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, he was also a member of the Danish hockey team in 1928 at Amsterdam, where he scored three goals, and in 1936 in Berlin. Holst was Chairman of the Danish Hockey Federation from 1951-59. He was an engineer by profession.
