Ezz El-Din Nasir began competing in boxing at the national level after World War II and had a relatively brief career. His victory in the lightweight division at both the Egyptian national championships and the Olympic trials in 1948, however, led to his selection to represent his country at the London Games. There, he was eliminated in round one by Canadian Eddie Haddad. By career he served in the Egyptian Air Force and became the youngest officer to reach the rank of colonel. He was shot down and killed in April 1963 while serving during the North Yemen Civil War.
