Biography

The son of Dr. Charles Donald, a well-known east of Scotland golfer and hockey player, Charles junior followed in his father’s footsteps and excelled at both sports. Donald junior played his club hockey with ICI Grangemouth HC, of which his father was the secretary. Eventually captain of Grangemouth, he went on to win his first Scottish international cap in 1960, and in 1968 was a member of the Great Britain team that finished 12th (out of 16) at the Mexico Olympics.
