Leane Suniar Manurung competed in archery for Indonesia at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, placing ninth. She broke the Indonesian record for women’s archery multiple times. After her retirement from competition Suniar Manurung lectured in nutrition science at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI). In 2018 she served as Director of Medical & Doping Control for the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC). Suniar Manurung eventually died after a long battle with colon cancer.
