Andreas Mollandin was a member of the West German field hockey team that won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, after losing to Great Britain 3-1 in the final. Mollandin won 61 international caps (including 10 indoor) between 1984-90.
Domestically, Mollandin played with Limburger HC, winning the German Championship in 1984, and the indoor title in 1985. He then moved to SC Frankfurt 1880 and won the national title in 1989. By profession, Mollandin trained as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant in the textile industry. He later worked as an insurance agent.
