As a student at Meiji University, Sadayoshi Kobayashi played both hockey games at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics as a back. At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics he acted as the coach of the Japanese hockey team. He also served as the director of the hockey club at Meiji University and promoted hockey at high schools around the country. In 1979 Kobayashi received the Asahi Sports Award.
