Biography

During the 1970s Wong Choon Hin played field hockey for the Malaysia national team, earning more than 80 international caps. Wong first competed at the Asian Games in 1970 in Bangkok, where the team finished fourth. Two years later he was part of the side that played in the hockey tournament at the München Olympics, playing in all nine matches for the team. Malaysia had its best performance at the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran, where they won bronze in the round-robin competition. Wong returned to the Olympics for the 1976 Games in Montréal, playing in all seven of Malaysia’s matches and scoring in their 2–1 loss to Spain in the classification round. That same year he was also named as the Selangor Sportsman of the Year.
