Biography

Dutch field hockey player Leo Wery represented HHIJC in Den Haag winning four national championships with the club following the end of World War II. In 1952 Wery was selected to compete in the hockey tournament at the Helsinki Olympics, playing in three games, and scored the only goal in their 1–0 win against Pakistan in the semi-finals. The Dutch team then won silver after losing 6–1 to India in the final of the tournament. After his sporting career Wery worked as a lawyer in the oil industry.
