Friedrich Heyer, was a German garden architect. He attended the Gardeners’ Training College in Köstritz from 1905 and then worked in a seed store in Erfurt and in horticultural companies in Zürich and Rellingen. From 1912-14 he was a student at the Higher School of Gardening in Berlin-Dahlem. After serving in World War I Heyer went to Frankfurt am Main, where he worked in the municipal horticultural department from 1919. In 1922 he passed the exam to become a horticultural inspector. In 1945 Heyer was appointed director of the horticultural department as successor of Max Bromme and acted temporarily as president of the “Vereine Deutscher Rosenfreunde” (Associations of German Friends of Rose).
