Laurel Hershey-Martin

Laurel Hershey-Martin played college hockey (field) at the University of North Carolina, helping them win the 1989 NCAA title, and making All-American her last three years. She had been a distance runner in high school. She joined the US National Team in 1990 and competed at the World Cup that year. She played at the 1996 Olympics and the Pan American Games, winning a bronze medal in 1991 and a silver in 1995.

Hershey-Martin went into coaching. She coached at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania from 2001-11. During that tenure she led the team to six D-3 NCAA tournament appearances, including twice making the Final Four. In 2011 she moved to Stevenson University in Maryland. Hershey-Martin is a member of the US Field Hockey Hall of Fame. She is a 12th generation descendant of Milton Hershey, the founder of the chocolate company.
