Heine Greer graduated from Williams in 1922 and went on to Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1925. He went on to be very successful as a corporate lawyer in New York. However, he became better known as an amateur musician who played tenor banjo with the Bobby Condon and Eddie Hackett orchestras, and later founded the Cape Cod Jazz Society. Greer was also responsible for the United States having a field hockey team at the 1932 Olympics. In 1931 he founded the Field Hockey Association of the United States of America and remained as its president for almost 30 years. He also served during that time on the U.S. Olympic Committee and was chairman of the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey Committee at the first four Olympics at which a United States team participated.
