Biography

A Pakistani native, Manzar Iqbal came to the United States as a child and played for the US national team from 1977-91, earning over 100 caps. He competed at four Pan American Games (1979, 1983, 1987, 1991), winning bronze medals in 1987 and 1991. Iqbal graduated from U Cal Berkeley in 1982. He played for over 10 years with the NorCal Club. He later coached the Fairfield County United Field Hockey Club. He worked in imports/exports and was a coal broker for many years. In 2015 he became a product manager for Sumitomo Corporation for steel and non-ferrous metal products. Iqbal’s mother, Moin, was a member of the Pakistani national team. His daughter, Alex Iqbal, played hockey (field) at the University of Pennsylvania.
