William Kurtz played hockey for the US at the 1948 London Olympics. He competed for the Philadelphia Field Hockey Association. Enlisting in the US Army in December 1940 Kurtz served in the 1st Armoured Division during World War II, serving through 1950. In 1940. Kurtz worked as a shipper in a paper box factory.
