Biography

Foil fencer Karin Gießelmann finished fifth with the West German foil team at the 1972 München Olympics and fourth under her married name Rutz-Gießelmann at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. She was also eliminated in the individual event in the first round in 1972. At the 1977 Worlds she claimed a team silver. In 1969 and 1972 she won the West German titles. She married dentist Dr. Klaus Rutz.
