Foil fencer Annette Klug was a member of the West German foil team that won the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, although she only competed in the pool rounds. She was nevertheless awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Klug later became a youth coach.
