Although he competed at the 1952 Olympics as a fencer, Robert Henrion is much better known for his economics and politics in Belgium. He started as a university professor at the Free University of Brussels and the Catholic University of Loubain, and later became Vice-President of the Board of the General Banking Society in Belgium. In 1966 he was named Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Belgian Prime Minister Paul Vanden Boeynants, serving until 1968, when Vanden Boeynants left office. During his tenure as Finance Minister Henrion reduced the budget deficit and reformed the Belgium banking system.
