Biography

François Rom was a Belgian fencer from the Cercle Royal d’Escrime de Bruxelles. He was nominated for the first time for the 1906 Intercalated Games at Athens but did not compete. Two years later in London, Rom participated in the épée individual and team events, winning bronze in the latter. In Stockholm in 1912, he was again part of the team but was not actually deployed and thus did not receive a gold medal, which was won by his Belgian team members. Finally, at the 1920 Olympics at Antwerpen (Antwerp) Rom acted as captain of the Belgian foil team.
